Network and System Administration, Operating Systems
Erik Hjelmås is Cand.mag (1994) in computer science (Hedmark regional college) and mathematics (Telemark regional college), M.Sc. (1996) in information science with AI plan of studies (University of Pittsburgh) and Dr. scient. (2005) in computer science with a thesis on face recognition (University of Oslo). He has been a faculty member at GUC since 1996, and teaches the courses Operating Systems and System Administration, and has previously taught the courses Data Communication and Network Security, Computer System Security, Artifical Intelligence, IT for teachers, and Introduction to Computer Science. He has published peer-reviewed papers in the field of face recognition, system administration/information security, and study program development. He has also had a key role in developing the Norwegian Information Security Laboratory (NISlab), and is currently program director for Bachelor of Science in Network and System Administration.
